FUEL CELL FUNDAMENTALS
Session 1
June 24, 2003
This session will include:
- The presentation of fuel cell operating principals, thermodynamics,
fundamental and system losses, system requirements and practical
limitations of the technology.
- A description of the different system components (e.g. fuel
processor, fuel cell stack, power conditioning equipment and balance
of plant) and a discussion of the issues involved in the integration
of these components into a system.
- An overview the of different types of fuels cells and their
technical characteristics. It will discuss performance issues (efficiencies)
as well as some of the material/ integration issues specific to the
different
technologies (AFC, MCFC, PAFC,
PEMFC, SOFC) and discuss why those differences lead to different market
potentials.
