Hydrogen and fuel cells have been touted globally as solutions to problems ranging from air quality to energy security. Many believe that within the next 15 to 20 years, the day will come when you will be able to drive to a local ”energy station” to fill up your fuel cell car with hydrogen. Concepts are under development to refuel with hydrogen in your home garage. The result could be a sustainable transportation system that does not rely on imported oil and does not pollute the air. Fuel cells likewise hold the promise to produce power more efficiently and without power lines, and to reduce emissions associated with the generation of electricity, one of America’s largest sources of air pollution. Increasingly, stationary fuel cells are being installed at hospitals, banks and government-owned buildings to provide clean back-up or off-grid power. Fuel cells will likely become the principal source of propulsive power for ships and locomotives, and supply the “hotel power” for jet aircraft. But how do fuel cells work? What does it all mean? When might we expect the transition to start? These and other questions will be answered at our upcoming Fuel Cell Technology Institute and optional Hydrogen Workshop. The programs offer a valuable foundation for newcomers and are presented in ways that encourage audience questions and ensure a broad understanding of associated benefits and challenges. Presenters include experts from the National Fuel Cell Research Center, Air Products and Chemicals, CTG Energetics, FuelCell Energy, Plug Power, Siemens Westinghouse, Toyota, the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Energy. Among those who should attend are:
This year, we are proud to present these programs in conjunction with the 11th Annual Clean Cities Conference & Exposition, hosted by the Clean Cities Coachella Valley Region and organized by the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Institute. All three events are being held at the Wyndham Palm Springs Hotel so you can take advantage of all the activities. There are a limited number of seats available for the Fuel Cell Technology Institute and accompanying Hydrogen Workshop. Register early so that you won’t be left out. I look forward to seeing you in Palm Springs. Sincerely,
