The UC Irvine Hydrogen Program, a component of the Advanced Power and Energy Program, is actively developing and demonstrating energy technologies that generate and utilize hydrogen.
The goals of the program are to:
-
Develop and evaluate novel methods for generating, distributing, storing, dispensing and utilizing hydrogen as an energy carrier
-
Facilitate the introduction of fuel cell powered automobiles and hydrogen fueling stations in southern California
-
Explore the possibility for future energy system concepts made possible by the convergence of stationary and transportation power technology in the form of hydrogen powered fuel cells
-
Educate industry, government and the general public on the costs and benefits of hydrogen technologies and systems
