The Ohio Fuel Cell Coalition is a consortium of industry, academia and government leaders from throughout the State of Ohio who are dedicated to developing a forward looking plan to advance a fuel cell industry in Ohio.
Members work to ensure Ohio's presence both regionally and nationally through:
- research and development,
- an entrepreneurial environment that encourages
innovation and supports commercialization,
- strategic advocacy to increase federal and
state resources to create a globally competitive
industry in Ohio, and
- promoting the benefits and value of fuel
cell technology.
The State of Ohio recognizes it can play a key role in strengthening their fuel cell industry and has proposed a $100 million initiative.
Financing - $75 million
- The Ohio Department of Development will
set aside up to $15 million to help Ohio's
fuel cell companies make new strategic capital
investments that will create or retain jobs
for Ohio citizens.
- Up to $60 million ($20 million per year)
in federal volume cap for tax exempt financing
of qualified, small issue projects over the
next three years.
- Loan program to provide interest reduction
up to 50% of the market rate on the eligible
energy efficiency costs max $250,000 per project.)
- General financing assistance to qualified projects.
Research, Development, & Demonstration - $25 million
- Allocation of up to $13 million over three
years of oil overcharge monies to help with
fuel cell research and development.
- Ohio Coal Development Office will issue a $2
million public solicitation next year
for a three year effort to further develop
coal gasification and hot gas cleanup technologies
that could provide a clean gas hydrogen supply
for fuel cells.
- The Governor will request the Technology Action Board to consider designating $10 million over the next three years in Technology Action Fund awards for competitive technology development and commercialization projects.
Training - $3 million
- $3 million to assist Ohio's fuel cell companies upgrade the skills of its workers over the next three years.
