Description
The NFCRC is working with the United States Department of Defense and the United States Department of Energy to provide a framework whereby research activities in the area of fuel cell testing and other areas of mutual interest are more closely coordinated.
Today, four fuel cell research centers have been identified:
- U.S. Department of Defense - Fuel Cell Test and Evaluation Center (FCTEC) at Concurrent Technology Corporation's Johnstown facility
- National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL)
- National Fuel Cell Research Center (NFCRC)
- University of Alaska Energy Center (UAEC)
The purpose of FC4 is:
- Information Exchange - exchange of information and documents regarding research plans, current research, development and testing activities, and projects that are considered to be of interest to parties of the FC4.
- Understanding Development - provide mechanisms that will provide detailed understanding of all parties technical programs and testing experience sufficient to permit the parties to achieve coordination of research efforts.
- Research Integration - seek to integrate research programs and cooperate on special projects to accomplish research and development efforts and resolve technical problems of mutual interest without duplication of effort and with leveraging of resources.
- Technical Meetings - Organize, host and conduct meetings for
general technical information exchange between and amongst the
Fuel Cell Test Centers.
NFCRC Role
The NFCRC is responsible for organizing and participation in the FC4 meetings, support of the development of materials for dissemination amongst the FC4 participants, and the support of travel costs for coordination activities.
