Hydrogenics HomeFueler
Overview
NFCRC is evaluating the operation of a Hydrogenics HomeFueler prototype. The HomeFueler concept combines a small-scale hydrogen generator and compressor with a hydrogen storage and dispensing system that could be located at a residence to support the operation of 1-2 hydrogen powered automobiles. Availability of such a hydrogen fueling system could potentially encourage the introduction of fuel cell vehicles before big investments are made in large fueling stations.
Key features include:
- Vandenborre IMET® water electrolyzer
- 2 kg H2 per day production capacity
- 12-13 kg H2 storage capacity
- 5,000 psig (350 bar) filling pressure
- Single phase AC power and potable water are the only utility requirements
